After months of excitement and hard work behind the scenes we’re pleased to announce that we’re moving to new premises! Our sapling operation is extending its roots from the SILO kitchen to Preston Barracks on Lewes Road, as part of the brilliant FIELD BTN project.
The FIELD project is about creating a clear vision for the redevelopment of Preston Barracks that totally fulfills the needs of Brighton & Hove’s diverse entrepreneurial community. The aim is to unite and empower makers, inventors, engineers and product designers as well as like-minded people, organisations and businesses to create a community that thrives on the free exchange of ideas between creative innovators and inventors. Our brewery and retail space/café is just one of an inspiring range of businesses soon to be taking root in the once abandoned territorial army barracks
We have been lucky enough to be given the space we need to more fully realise our vision of becoming a drinks producing enterprise that contributes to earth regeneration. Over the last few months we’ve been working tirelessly to turn this previously abandoned barracks into our pioneering new brew space which will soon feature a bio-char heater to provide us with hot water and solar powered refrigeration to keep our creations cool. We are also planting up the landscape around the building to create our first perennial and properly edible landscape which should provide us with the raw materials we need to brew into the future! Huge thanks to everyone who's been in to help with the transformation, we couldn't do it without you!
Our Preston Barracks home will serve as the new Old Tree HQ and is soon to be open to the public to visit us and see what we’re up to and pick up your weekly supply of Kombucha, Kefir or Ginger Beer. We'll also have our soon-to-be-solar-powered delivery rickshaw up and running from the barracks, ready to spread the botanical drinks bounty around Brighton.
In the coming months we hope to be able to use the space to provide regular workshops and host community events as our newest project sprouts into a truly unique café space. More to come on that later this week!
